Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a multifactorial multisystem disease characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, anxiety, and sleep disturbances, with a higher prevalence in women. In managing this chronic condition where conventional medicine may fall short, Traditional and Complementary Medicine (TCM) methods and therapeutic nutritional approaches come to the fore. Clinical data demonstrate that methods such as modified prolotherapy (5% dextrose), acupuncture, ozone therapy, cupping, leech therapy, music therapy, hypnosis, osteopathy, mesotherapy, and reflexology provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inducing sterile inflammation or stimulating neurotransmitters. Due to the direct relationship of pain with obesity and chronic inflammation; dietary interventions like vegetarian, Mediterranean, low-FODMAP, and elimination diets significantly reduce FMS symptoms and inflammatory markers. Additionally, alongside the use of vitamins D, B, C, and magnesium supplements, which possess antioxidant and neuromuscular coordination properties, botanical compounds such as turmeric, ginger, and boswellia that suppress pro-inflammatory enzymes deliver high success in lowering pain perception, thereby improving patients' quality of life and functionality.
