Özet

Meme dokusu, göğsün ön duvarında 2-6. kaburgalar arasında yer alan, epitel, destek, fibröz ve yağ dokularından oluşan, bol kan ve lenf damarıyla beslenen özelleşmiş cilt aksesuar bezleridir. Embriyolojik gelişimi 5-6. haftalarda süt çizgisiyle başlar; pubertede hormonal etkilerle hızlanarak yaklaşık 19 yaşında tamamlanır. Histolojik açıdan meme, meme başına açılan 15-20 lob ve laktiferöz kanallardan oluşan dallı tubuloalveoler bir yapıya sahiptir. Gebelik ve laktasyon döneminde progesteron, östrojen, prolaktin ve oksitosin gibi hormonların etkisiyle morfolojik ve fonksiyonel olgunluğa erişerek aktif salgı fazına geçer. Doğum sonrasında salgılanan ilk öncül süt olan kolostrum, yenidoğana pasif bağışıklık sağlayan yüksek oranda antikor ve besin öğeleri içerir. Memenin arteriyel beslenmesi internal mamarien ve lateral torasik gibi arterlerce sağlanırken, lenf drenajının büyük bölümü klinik açıdan kritik öneme sahip aksiller lenf düğümlerine dökülür. Memenin bu karmaşık anatomik, histolojik ve fizyolojik mekanizmalarının bütünüyle anlaşılması, başta kanser olmak üzere benign ve malign meme hastalıklarının patofizyolojisini aydınlatmak açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır.

The mammary gland is a specialized cutaneous accessory organ located on the anterior chest wall between the 2nd and 6th ribs, consisting of epithelial, supportive, fibrous, and adipose tissues extensively supplied by blood and lymphatic vessels. Embryonic development initiates around the 5th to 6th weeks via the milk line, accelerates during puberty under hormonal control, and matures by age 19. Histologically, the breast is a branched tubuloalveolar gland composed of 15-20 lobes with corresponding lactiferous ducts opening into the nipple. During pregnancy and lactation, driven by hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, and oxytocin, the tissue achieves functional maturity and enters the active secretory phase. The initial postpartum secretion, colostrum, is highly rich in antibodies and nutrients, providing vital passive immunity to the newborn. Arterial supply is predominantly maintained by the internal mammary and lateral thoracic arteries, while the majority of lymphatic drainage flows into the axillary lymph nodes, carrying immense clinical significance for cancer metastasis. Understanding these intricate anatomical, histological, and physiological mechanisms is critically essential for comprehending the pathophysiology of benign and malignant breast diseases, particularly breast carcinoma.
