The male reproductive system consists of spermatozoa and hormone-producing testes, genital ducts (epididymis, ductus deferens) that transmit sperm, accessory genital glands (vesicula seminalis, prostate, Cowper's gland), and the penis. Located within the scrotum, the testes are responsible for producing spermatozoa (exocrine) and androgens (endocrine). Spermatogenesis is regulated by pituitary hormones (FSH, LH), Leydig cells secrete testosterone, and Sertoli cells protect sperm by forming the blood-testis barrier. The ductuli efferentes emerging from the testes ensure sperm transmission. The epididymis, where sperm mature and are stored, consists of the caput, corpus, and cauda regions. Continuing from there, the ductus deferens extends within the funiculus spermaticus, crosses the ureter and bladder, fuses with the duct of the vesicula seminalis beneath the prostate to form the ductus ejaculatorius, and opens into the urethra. Among the accessory glands, the vesicula seminalis produces an alkaline secretion containing fructose and prostaglandins that constitutes 60-70% of the ejaculate, while the prostate gland enhances sperm motility with an acidic secretion making up 20-30%. Cowper's gland secretes mucus that neutralizes the urethra to facilitate copulation. The penis, the external genitalia, is composed of erectile tissues including two corpora cavernosa and one corpus spongiosum surrounding the urethra. The male urethra is examined in three sections: prostatic, membranous, and spongiosa. Semen discharged during orgasm is an opaque fluid of 2-4 ml consisting of spermatozoa and seminal plasma.
