Examining the holistic, preventive, and therapeutic effects of yoga on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), this study states that yoga offers a powerful mechanism against NCDs, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, respiratory diseases, and diabetes, which cause premature deaths worldwide and are triggered by chronic inflammation and stress. The practices of asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, thereby reducing stress hormones (cortisol, adrenaline), strengthening the immune system, and supporting neuroplasticity by increasing gray matter concentration in the brain. Clinical research demonstrates that yoga lowers blood pressure, reduces insulin resistance, alleviates rheumatic pain, improves respiratory symptoms like asthma and COPD, and decreases fatigue and anxiety in cancer patients. Furthermore, it exhibits anti-aging effects by increasing telomerase activity, which delays cellular aging. Consequently, yoga holds a strategic importance in improving public health and complementary treatment processes due to its cost-effective, safe nature that offers numerous advantages compared to pharmacological treatments.
