Özet

Çocuk çağı obezitesi, erişkinlikte de devam edebilen ve küresel ölçekte hızla artan ciddi bir halk sağlığı problemidir. Dünya genelinde 5-19 yaş arası obez veya fazla kilolu bireylerin sayısı 340 milyona ulaşmış olup, Türkiye'nin de içinde bulunduğu birçok ülkede bu yaygınlık tehdit edici boyutlardadır. Obezitenin ortaya çıkmasında; genetik yatkınlık, erken doğum, anne sütünün yetersizliği ve DEHB gibi biyolojik faktörlerin yanı sıra endokrin bozucu kimyasallar da rol oynamaktadır. Ayrıca, düşük sosyoekonomik ve eğitim düzeyi, kırsal yaşam, sağlıklı gıdaya erişim zorluğu, fast-food tüketimi, yetersiz uyku ile televizyon, sosyal medya ve dijital oyunlar üzerinden yürütülen sağlıksız gıda reklamları bu süreci tetikleyen çevresel ve davranışsal etkenler arasındadır. Bu kronik hastalık; hipertansiyon, tip 2 diyabet, astım ve uyku apnesi gibi komorbiditelere zemin hazırlamaktadır. Koruma ve kontrol müdahalelerinde; gebelikten itibaren dengeli beslenme, ilk altı ay anne sütü, ekran süresinin kısıtlanması, haftada en az beş gün fiziksel aktivite yapılması ve ebeveynlerin rol model olması kritik öneme sahiptir. Okullarda "Beslenme Dostu Okul Projesi" gibi çok yönlü sağlıklı beslenme programlarının uygulanması, fiziksel aktivite alanlarının sağlanması, gıda ambalajlarında anlaşılır etiketleme sistemlerinin kullanılması ve sağlıksız gıda reklamlarına kısıtlamalar getirilmesi multidisipliner mücadele stratejilerini oluşturmaktadır.

Childhood obesity is a serious public health problem that can persist into adulthood and is increasing rapidly on a global scale. The number of overweight or obese individuals aged 5-19 worldwide has reached 340 million, and this prevalence is at threatening levels in many countries, including Turkey. Along with genetic predisposition, preterm birth, lack of breastfeeding, and ADHD, endocrine-disrupting chemicals also play a role in its emergence. Additionally, low socioeconomic and educational levels, rural living, difficulty accessing healthy food, fast-food consumption, inadequate sleep, and unhealthy food advertisements on television, social media, and digital games are among the triggering environmental and behavioral factors. This chronic disease paves the way for comorbidities such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, asthma, and sleep apnea. In prevention and control interventions, balanced nutrition starting from pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, limiting screen time, engaging in physical activity at least five days a week, and parents serving as role models are of critical importance. Implementing multi-faceted healthy nutrition programs like the "Nutrition-Friendly School Project" in schools, providing physical activity spaces, utilizing clear labeling systems on food packaging, and imposing restrictions on unhealthy food advertisements constitute multidisciplinary combat strategies.
