Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent, benign, and chronic inflammatory disease characterized by ectopic endometrial implants, which negatively affects women's quality of life through symptoms like dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, infertility, and gastrointestinal complaints. Although there is no definitive cure, pharmacological and surgical treatments are utilized. Recent studies suggest that diet and lifestyle may play a role in the disease by influencing inflammatory factors and estrogenic activity. Increased consumption of green vegetables, fresh fruits (especially citrus), high dairy products, vitamin D, and magnesium has been observed to reduce the risk of endometriosis. Antioxidant vitamins C and E are also effective in suppressing symptoms. Conversely, high intake of red meat, saturated fats, trans fats, and FODMAP-rich foods increases the disease risk and symptom severity. No confirmed link has been found between coffee or alcohol consumption and the condition. While a synergistic combination of nutrients with direct or indirect anti-inflammatory properties offers a viable approach to alleviating symptoms, current scientific data is insufficient and contradictory to develop a specific endometriosis diet, highlighting the need for further research.
