Özet

The bone lid method is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of a section of bone to gain access to the surgical site. After the surgery is complete, the removed bone is replaced in its original location. This technique offers several benefits, including the preservation of bone and the promotion of bone regeneration and recovery. Since its first documentation in 1984, the bone lid method has been used for various surgical procedures, such as cyst enucleation, root extraction and resection, implant removal, sinus lift procedures, and treatment of maxillary sinus diseases. The bone lid technique has numerous advantages, including easy access to the operation field and less likelihood of nerve-related complications. It can lead to better healing results by reducing the growth of soft tissue and promoting the formation of new bone. However, it's important to note that this method may require additional intraoperative time, which could cause relatively more postoperative discomfort, pain, and swelling. Virtual planning techniques, Cone Beam CT, and computer-assisted navigation continue to advance surgical planning and outcomes.
