Aquatherapy is a preventive method aiming to protect and improve health by utilizing the thermal and mechanical properties of water, such as buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, viscosity, and temperature. Distinct from swimming education, this approach is conducted with the therapist inside the water in one-on-one or group sessions, minimizing injury risks. By reducing the load on joints, it offers a safe exercise environment for individuals with chronic conditions like osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and hypertension, as well as for obese individuals and the elderly. Furthermore, through specialized techniques like Ai Chi and Watsu, it enhances postural support, improves balance to reduce fall risks, and relieves muscle spasms. It improves sleep quality and lowers postpartum depression risks in pregnant women, while accelerating post-injury rehabilitation in athletes. Providing psychological relaxation to enhance quality of life and autonomy, this method should be conducted by qualified professionals in ideal rehabilitation pools using appropriate assistive devices.
