Özet
Doğa ile insan ilişkisini ve doğal alanların insan sağlığı ile esenliği üzerindeki çok boyutlu olumlu etkilerini bilimsel araştırmalara dayanarak incelemek büyük önem taşımaktadır. Dünya Sağlık Örgütü'nün sağlık tanımından yola çıkarak; bağlanmak, aktif olmak, farkındalık, öğrenmeye devam etmek ve vermek olmak üzere refahı iyileştiren beş temel eylem doğa bağlamında ele alınmaktadır. Araştırmalar, kırsal ve yeşil alanların şehir merkezlerine kıyasla stresten arınmada, zihinsel yorgunluğu gidermede ve ruh sağlığını korumada daha etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Yaşam alanlarına yakın yeşil alanların varlığı; obezite, kaygı ve depresyon riskini azaltırken, yaşlılarda yaşam süresini uzatmakta ve bağışıklık sistemini güçlendirmektedir. Ayrıca çocuklarda odaklanmayı artırdığı, miyopi riskini düşürdüğü ve atopik alerji gelişimini azalttığı tespit edilmiştir. Japonya menşeili Shinrin-Yoku (Orman Banyosu) gibi uygulamaların stres hormonlarını düşürerek hastalıklara karşı direnç sağladığı vurgulanmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, kentsel planlamada yeşil alanların korunmasının ve toplumun doğayla anlamlı bağlar kurmasının sürdürülebilir bir halk sağlığı politikası için hayati öneme sahip olduğu görülmektedir.
Examining the relationship between humans and nature highlights the multi-dimensional positive effects of natural environments on human health and well-being based on scientific research. Rooted in the World Health Organization's definition of health, five core actions to improve well-being—connecting, being active, taking notice, keep learning, and giving—are explored within the context of nature. Research indicates that rural and green areas are significantly more effective at relieving stress, restoring mental fatigue, and protecting psychological health compared to urban settings. The proximity of green spaces to residential areas reduces the risks of obesity, anxiety, and depression, while enhancing longevity in senior citizens and boosting immune functions. Furthermore, exposure to nature is shown to improve focus in children, decrease the incidence of myopia, and reduce the development of atopic allergies. Traditional practices like Japan's Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) are emphasized for lowering stress hormones and strengthening defenses against diseases. Ultimately, preserving green infrastructure in urban planning and fostering meaningful connections with nature are vital for sustainable public health policies.
